Microsoft Courier your own digital journal device

Courier vs. Tablet

Sometimes you stumble across some awesome device, Well the Microsoft Courier is such a device that makes you scream! Recently they released a new mock up video of the device, internal specifications are not yet available. The device contains two screens which can be flipped together just like a book. The device will run on the same OS as the Zune which we believe is Microsoft CE 6.0. The interface will be pen based, with build in handwriting recognition, so you can draw and write on screen. Not much too tell about this device, and the cost of the thing. But from what I heard it will be released in Q3/Q4.

Windows Phone 7 Series revealed

ou427a

First of all I want to congratulate two dear friends of mine, they gave birth to a little baby girl with the name Isa.

Now to the point, the revealing of the new mobile operating flagship Windows Phone Series 7. With this new version they want too step away from there old and non touch friendly mobile operating system and introduce a new and friendlier interface to work with. This version is based on the Windows CE 6 kernel, like they used on the Zune HD. The first handsets that will running this operating system will be available this summer.

The interface is a completely renewed with the intention for more finger friendliness. It looks like pages from a newspaper where you can swipe through, my personal opinion is that it looks a bit messy at start, and you can lose focus on where you are. But maybe it just takes time to get used too.

Breaking news for the Nexus One, multi-touch!

nexus-one1

We all know that the Nexus One seems to be a great phone to have. Great speed and much of the wanna-haves are on board. The only downside of that phone is that its missing the multi-touch interface. To focus on a part on the website in the browser application you needed to press the zoom button or double tap on an area. But this has was not as nice when you could do it with 2 fingers pinching in and out, this flaw has recently been picked up by the development team.

This team has released a new software update where they introducing the multi-touch (pinch and zoom) interface to the phone.  In this release they also added Google Goggles. So guys and galls… While you probably thought this phone couldn’t get any better… well think again, and start zooming!

Mozilla Firefox on Android in February 2010?

The German Mozilla community http://www.camp-firefox.de reported that we could make use of Firefox on the Android powered phones in February. This will be a beta version of Firefox and will be called “Fennec” as codename. This community has a “working” copy installed on a Android powered phone. I quoted working, simply because browsing was still impossible.

We still don’t know the real truth about this story, but it seems legit. Mozilla had a Labs Night Meeting where the Vice President of Mozilla, Jay Sullivan, will speak about there mobile strategy, and there will be demos about new versions of Firefox for the mobile phone.

Game developers are getting the Nexus One for free

There is no real liftoff of high quality games on the Android platform. There are a few nice titles out there but there is still a lot to discover. To change this Google has announced that they will be giving Nexus One phones away too those people that will come to the Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco.

Google rumor: buying Yelp for approx 500 Million

As we have noticed google want to buy Yelp, a big business directory with reviews and information about companies world wide. Techcrunch has reported a 80% chance of this buy. The information Yelp contains could greatly improve Google Maps and the information provided by this application. It would be great to see the restaurant on the map with some nice reviews about that particular restaurant.

We don’t have information about when this transaction is going to take place, but we will see soon enough. I’m very interesting how this will turn out.
