Unboxing the nexus one… is fun!

OK normaly the unboxing of an item is posted on youtube and well it’s kind of boring to watch… It contains a dull movie of unwrapping paper and showing what’s in the box. Mostly the narrator is kinda boring too because he got nothing too say actually. Well Google sponsored a new unboxing video which is much more entertaining too see! In the movie you will see three ninjas opening the box with there super ninja skills! Go watch!

Google Nexus One Official

nexus-one1

Finally the news is out, google made it official. The Nexus One created by HTC is launched and you can buy it from google. A shame is US only for now but soon we are able to buy it worldwide. You can access the shop at http://www.google.com/phone

Funny to see that on the android event they places a huge size version of this phone.

It’s CNC milled to the exact specs of the phones original CAD model multiplied 12 times it’s original size. 46″ LED display screen with HDMI connection to a MAC mini running Windows. 1080 x 1920 HD video played back on Obscura’s proprietary video playback software.  It does not have touch-screen capabilities at this time.

For the price of 530 dollar thats a nice phone too get!

What about this phone: Google Nexus One

Yeah well what about it, Google seems to have released the Nexus one too there own staff members as dog feeding. A lot of updates have been posted on other sites about this phone, but most of these post contains a boot screen of the phone. To my personal taste that’s not really something I want too see actually, don’t get me wrong the boot screen is pretty awesome but hell… when do you normally see that screen?

To sum it all up what do we got so far on information about this phone:

  • Its extremely thin
  • It looks better in real life than on photo
  • Its fast
  • Its 3g capable
  • It got a nice boot animation
  • It has a nice form factor
  • It has 5 panels
  • Battery capacity is 1400 mAh
  • Screen appears to be OLED
  • No dedicated camera key
  • Trackball can be used to focus camera
  • Micro-USB connector
  • Gold contacts on bottom edge (Possibly for a dock)

Some quotes on this phone:

“Low-light performance is decent, but the flash is weak”

“Super snappy!”

All seems pretty well, lets hope they release more official information about this phone in the near future.

Also many people where watching the website located at http://www.thenexusone.com this website posted content and videos about this phone, they did at a regular basis. But all there was too see was boot screen after boot screen nothing fancy or informative at all. I seemed all they did was drawing page views and revenue on advertisement. That site is out of the air for now, probably someone pulled the plug, could it be HTC? or Google?

Google labs introducing “Google Goggles”

Those people that work at google seems pretty inovative, they recently released a new application called “Google Goggles”. This application is inovative because it does not search by text but by image. You take a snapshot for example of the empire state building and it will search for any information about this building it can find. Take a shot at a product and it will tell you reviews or prices about that product.

The application is currently for download on the Android phone, I only got a HTC Hero 1.5 phone at hand at the moment so I could not test it out, the minimum requirements for this application are set at Android 1.6.

Opera Mobile release to OEM for Android phones

Yesterday Opera Software released its mobile browser to the OEM, and operator network. This is not the mini version of the opera browser but its the real thing.

Previously there where only two big solutions of mobile browsing on android phones. The default Android browser based on the web-kit engine and the Dolphin browser, there are more but they are not so feature rich.

There are many build in features in this new browser that the Android browser doesn’t have, for example the compression technology used in the Opera Browser seems to be awesome.

There is only one downside to this story, it seems that the application will be released through the operator, it won’t be available through download on the Android Market.

Bravo spotted on the leaked HTC Roadmap

A while ago a road map of HTC mobile phones leaked through the Internet. This road map showed a few phones, but one of them was particularly interesting, the HTC Bravo. Why this phone was so interesting you may ask? Well while we take a look at the specifications:

  • 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
  • 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 (Snapdragon) processor
  • 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM
  • 5,0 megapixel camera with autofocus, flashlight en 720p video
  • Wi-Fi b/g
  • aGPS
  • Optical trackball
  • 1400 mAh battery
  • 16GB microSD-card

You will notice that this phone has some great specifications to show. And we could probably receive this phone in the first weeks of January in the VS. But probably under the codename “HTC Passion”.

Funny too notice is that HTC isn’t really surprised about the leaked content:

We cannot comment on speculation or rumour, but we’re excited about our upcoming roadmap and urge you to watch this space.

So what to think of this leak? Is it intentional for some good publicity? Well that would be a good stunt! Way to go HTC!

Motorola Motus (BackFlip) details spotted

First of all sorry for the blurry image!, So I watched some twitters, crawled some websites and this is what comes up. A new phone of Motorola that will handle the social networks with its blur interface.  Its some leaked data so we can’t be totally sure about this phone. But who cares, looking at the specifications of this phone I’m only thinking why do we need another phone like this? They got the Click, why release this one. Lets take a look at the specifications:

  • 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A
  • 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM
  • 3.1 inch display 320 x 480 (HVGA)
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • WiFi / Bluetooth 2.0 / GPS
  • OS Android 1.5 with Motoblur
  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900 W-CDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100
  • Reverse flip keyboard
  • Rear directional touchpad

This phone will be released in Q1 of 2010, then why will it run on Android 1.5 has a 538MHz Qualcomm CPU. We want Snapdragon! This phone has nothing extras actualy, lets hope I’m wrong and the specs will change to make it a little bit more interesting.

The Samsung Galaxi Spica i5700 available

This weekend samsung released a new phone to the audience. The phone called Galaxi Spica is a nice looking small phone, probably a phone thats easy to put away in your pocket after you drained its battery because of playing. The one will be positioned before the Galaxy i7500 and will be cheaper in price.

Some of the specifications are:

  • 3.2 inch AMOLED screen
  • 3G HSDPA
  • 3.2 Mega-pixel camera
  • A 528 Mhz processor
  • De 1500 mAh battery
  • Bluetooth and MiniUSB

As you can see these specs aren’t that spectacular, 3.2 Mega-pixel camera is not really high standard at the moment. I think Samsung introducing this phone to the ones with a slightly lower budget or for those who want to get equated with the Google Android OS.

Whats all the fuzz about the Xperia X10

Will this be a biggy? This phone will hit the streets in Q1 of 2010. Finally a phone that got some decent specs! I’m curious how this phone will handle the Android platform, probably very well. Id love to see the UI interface in action. Continue reading →
